Here in Santa Cruz County, we are connected to the land in so many ways. It’s critical to our well-being and this connectedness is why we work so hard to preserve and safeguard it. Conserving land is a forever commitment though, and climate change is making it harder and more expensive to do.

Now we have an opportunity before us. The Santa Cruz County Safe Drinking Water, Clean Beaches, Wildfire Risk Reduction, & Wildlife Protection Act is close to qualifying for the November 2024 ballot.

The measure would impose a modest parcel tax to create a long-term investment in public and private partners that manage land for climate resilience. If passed, it will provide an ongoing stream of funding for forest stewardship and fire risk reduction, floodplain management, clean water & beaches, well-maintained parks and open spaces, and wildlife habitat.

This is a very small investment in a very important outcome—the long-term resilience of Santa Cruz County.

Please join the Land Trust and other local environmental groups to endorse and support the Santa Cruz County Safe Drinking Water, Clean Beaches, Wildfire Risk Reduction and Wildlife Protection Act. Thank you.
